Todd Presner is a Professor of European Languages and Transcultural Studies and the founding Chair of UCLA’s Digital Humanities Program. His research spans European intellectual and cultural history, Holocaust studies, and digital humanities. He is the author of Ethics of the Algorithm: Digital Humanities and Holocaust Memory (Princeton University Press, 2024), which includes contributions by Anna Bonazzi, Rachel Deblinger, Lizhou Fan, Michelle Lee, Kyle Rosen, and Campbell Yamane. The book examines the ethical implications of “listening” to Holocaust testimonies by means of an algorithm and shows how computational methods can deepen our understanding of Holocaust history and memory.
